This assignment was where we took a picture of somewhere of school property, and then added things in in photoshop. We didn't really hve directions, but we were shown hwo to do things and we just had to remember. In this assignment, we had to add things that wouldn't normally be found in the school. what i learnedIn this assignment, I learned how to use the magic selection tool, make shadows, and different command keys to make things faster. This assignment was hard for me because we didn't really get as much direction. Also, I had a lot of ideas but it was hard to add some things because I couldn't get the quality of photos to look right.

This weeks assignment is the same as all the past week's photo assignments, this week I chose to take a macro photo. Macro is when you get pretty close up to a subject and you photograph it, usually to show details not often seen. SummaryI chose to do Macro because it is something that I don't usually photograph, and I thought it would be interesting to try. I didn't use my favorite picture for my best photo because it wasn't really macro (it's the one with the two handles, metal chain, fire blurry in the background). My best photo is the best because I think it is something that you have to get down and look closely to really see it. I really like all the different colors in it, but I don't like how I didn't move the metal chain back so it is not as sharp I would have liked it to be.
For this week's photoshop assignment, we had to go out and take pictures of five different subjects. We had to take multiple photos of each subject (using a tripod) and then we went into photoshop and merged them to become a panoramic picture. My four next best photos: what i learnedThrough this assignment, I learned how to merge photos together in photoshop. It was a pretty easy assignment compared to the others and it didn't take a lot of time. I also learned how to set up tripods and I put my new exposure triangle skills to the test (I photographed on manual the whole time).
Our second photo assignment for this year was just the same as last week's. We had a week to take 50-100 photos in one category, and then we had to narrow it down to our six best photos. For this weeks assignment, I used pumpkins to fulfill the Nature category. summaryI think that this assignment mostly helped me learn how to find the best lighting. At first, I was just taking photos on my front porch and the photos weren't coming out how I had hoped, so I was just going to edit the brightness later. But then, I went over to my front yard to get another pumpkin and I saw the sun hitting a small patch of grass and I just thought "oh my gosh! This will look great!" Once I moved over there, I learned how to make the best use out of the great lighting.
This was our second photoshop assignment and it was a little bit more advanced. We were given a photo of a car and we had somewhat vague instructions to follow. The picture was pretty good to begin with, but the background was a little busy. We used tools like the cloning tool, and the quick select tool. What i learnedThis assignment helped me figure out what more of the tools on photoshop were used for. One of the things that was pretty frustrating was the Select tool because it just took time and was very tedious. I thought everything else was pretty easy though and I liked to see how I could change it into a better picture.
For this week's shooting assignment, I think I want to do the Event category. Since homecoming is this week, I'm going to try to take a picture at either the pep rally, the football game, or while getting ready for/after the dance. Here are some examples of what I'm thinking of doing:
This was our first photo assignment of the year and we had one week to take a picture to fit into a category. There were thirteen different categories that we could choose from, I chose the category Still Life because I just had never really done it before and it sounded like it would be somewhat challenging but I would still be able to take a good photo. summaryMy original idea for this assignment was to take a picture of books against a black background, but after taking a couple and not liking them, I decided to do something else. I set up our ping pong table so one side was up, and I tried to put the paddles and the ping pong balls in a natural position. I put the one side up so that you couldn't see what was all around the ping pong table since it was kind of distracting.
For this assignment, we had to follow instructions in photoshop. When the assignment was finished, it had an Andy-Warhol effect. what i learnedThis assignment helped me learn how to use photoshop better because I've never used it before. One of the things that was very helpful to learn was how to just do some simple adjustments. Also, it made it so that next time I use photoshop I won't have to rely on instructions so much; I'll be able to kind of figure more of it out on my own.
For my first shooting assignment, I am doing a Still Life photo. I originally had the idea to take a picture of books with coffee in the background, and make it sort of a scene. I think this could help me better my skills using different aperture settings. These are some examples that I found that inspired me a little bit: I am going to try to use these photos and kind of put them together to make it my own. Hopefully it turns out how I would like, because I thought this was a really good idea.
During this assignment we had to take eight different photos. Four with different shutter speeds, and four with different apertures. shutter speedFor these four pictures, I was trying to show how different a picture will look by making the shutter speed faster or slower. As you can see, in Photo #1, the shutter speed is 1/3200 so the subject is sharper. But in Photo #4, the shutter speed is 1/20 and the subject is very blurry, also the picture is super bright because it let a lot of light in. apertureFor these four pictures, I was trying to show how different a picture will look by changing the shutter speeds. It's hard to tell, but if it would've worked better, you would have been able to see the Photo #1's background was much more blurry than Photo #4's background what i learnedThis assignment was kind of hard for me, especially the shutter speed portion of it. It was difficult because if I made the shutter speed too slow, it made the photo super bright. Also, we didn't have tripods so it was hard if the shutter speed was at like five seconds or something like that to keep it steady. Another thing that was difficult was that I wasn't able to see the difference when I changed the aperture, so it got really frustrating.
